Who we are

Leymans is a web design business operating in England. For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Leymans is the data controller for the information described below.

What we collect, and why

What we deliberately do not collect

We do not ask for and do not want health information, card or bank details, passwords, or any other sensitive personal data. Angela is instructed not to request it. Please don't share it — if you do, tell us and we'll delete it.

Angela, our AI assistant

Angela is powered by a large language model provided by Mistral AI. This means:

• Your messages are transmitted to Mistral's API so a reply can be generated. Mistral acts as our processor for this.
• Mistral does not use data submitted through its API to train its models by default.
• We do not store your conversation on this website. The transcript exists in your browser while the chat is open and is discarded when you close the tab or refresh the page.
• When Angela completes a project brief, that brief — and only that brief — is emailed to us so we can follow up. It is not the full transcript.
• Angela is an AI. Anything she says about prices, timings or what's technically possible is indicative only and is not a contractual offer. Leymans reviews every project before any proposal is issued.

You never have to use Angela. You can reach a human directly on WhatsApp or by email, and you can ask Angela to hand you over to a person at any point.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your data. We share it only with the service providers that make the site work:

• Mistral AI — processes chat messages to generate Angela's replies.
• Resend — delivers the project brief to our inbox by email.
• Our web host — hosts the website and the chat function.
• Google — serves the fonts used on this site, and provides analytics where enabled.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

• Chat transcripts: not stored by us at all.
• Project briefs and enquiry emails: kept while we're in discussion and for up to 24 months afterwards, so we can pick up where we left off.
• Client project records: kept for as long as we work together, plus 6 years for tax and legal purposes.
• Rate-limiting records: IP addresses are held in memory for up to one hour and never written to a database.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to: give you a copy of your data; correct anything wrong; delete it; restrict or object to how we use it; or transfer it elsewhere. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time — closing the chat window withdraws it for that conversation.

Email hello@leymans.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Angela uses no cookies and no local storage — the conversation lives in the page's memory only. If we add analytics in future, this notice will be updated and you'll be asked first where required.

Changes

If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
